Cate Blanchett to attend Tokyo Film Festival for Displacement Film Fund premieres
Actress Cate Blanchett will attend the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival to present the Japan premieres of five short films supported by the Displacement Film Fund. The fund, which Blanchett co-founded, provides resources to filmmakers who have experienced displacement or focus on the lives of displaced individuals.
The initiative was established in partnership with the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Hubert Bals Fund and has strategic support from UNHCR. Other partners include Uniqlo, the Amahoro Coalition, Master Mind, the Tamer Family Foundation, and the SP Lohia Foundation.
The screening program includes “Sense of Water” by Mohammad Rasoulof, which follows an Iranian writer in exile, and “Super Afghan Gym” by Shahrbanoo Sadat, depicting women's lives in a Kabul gym. Other featured works include “Allies in Exile” by Hasan Kattan and “Rotation” by Maryna Er Gorbach.
