Catedrales series explores religious fanaticism and family secrets

The Prime Video series ‘Catedrales’, based on the novel by Argentine author Claudia Piñeiro, has premiered. Directed by Fabiana Tiscornia and Pepa San Martín, the production explores the long-term consequences of an unsolved crime involving a character named Ana.

The narrative follows two sisters, Lía and Carmen, whose relationship is strained by their opposing views on religion and the family's past. The story moves between different time periods to reconstruct the events surrounding Ana's death and examine how the secret has impacted subsequent generations within a conservative Catholic family.

Actress Amparo Noguera, who portrays the adult Carmen, noted that the character’s faith transforms into a ‘dangerous fanaticism’ that becomes a tool for power. The series addresses themes of memory, individual autonomy, and the tension between religious mandates and personal truth.
