Cateno De Luca outlines Palermo development plan and political future
Cateno De Luca, leader of the Sud Chiama Nord movement, has presented ‘Palermo Futura – Capitale del Mediterraneo,’ a ten-point program aimed at the Sicilian capital. The initiative, promoted by Totò Lentini and Felice Coppolino, seeks to move beyond traditional center-right and center-left political divisions to focus on economic, social, and cultural development.
Key priorities for Palermo include financial recovery, urban regeneration, support for technological innovation, and the training of a new leadership class in preparation for the 2027 administrative elections. De Luca emphasized that his movement is building an agreement with the ‘Sindaci d’Italia’ movement, which he described as a significant novelty in the national political landscape.
Regarding his own career, De Luca signaled a transition period for his political life. Ahead of an upcoming Sud Chiama Nord assembly in Rome scheduled for late October, he noted that he is entering a new phase, describing it as a journey where the ultimate destination remains uncertain.
