Cathay Pacific expands Latin America network with new Iberia code‑share flights
Hong Kong‑based Cathay Pacific announced a series of new code‑share services with oneworld partner Iberia, adding Fortaleza and Recife in Brazil, Buenos Aires in Argentina and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic to its Latin American portfolio. The new routes will operate via Madrid, where the airline will also increase its Hong Kong‑Madrid direct service by three weekly flights – on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays – starting 25 October 2026, providing daily frequencies between the two cities.
Cathay Pacific already serves six destinations in four Latin American countries – Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Lima and Santiago – through connections in Europe, North America and Oceania. The Madrid hub, launched in 2016, has become a key link between Asia and Spain, complemented by a seasonal Hong Kong‑Barcelona service during the summer. Lavinia Lau, Customer and Commercial Officer at Cathay Pacific, said the airline is “pleased to incorporate these new destinations, reinforcing its position as the only carrier offering direct flights between Hong Kong and Spain.”
