Cathedral City Council considers renaming LGBT+ Days to Cathedral City Pride

The Cathedral City City Council is considering a proposal to rename the annual ‘LGBT+ Days’ celebration to ‘Cathedral City Pride.’ Michael Westman, a representative for Montage Events, stated the change aims to provide a more recognizable name, increase visibility, and attract more visitors to the city.

Organizers are also requesting to shift the 2027 event dates to March 12 through March 14 to avoid scheduling conflicts with other events at Agua Caliente. The 2026 celebration, which marked the event’s 10th anniversary, reportedly drew over 12,000 visitors from 28 states.

While organizers focus on community positivity, some community members have raised questions regarding the financial transparency of the event. During a previous meeting, resident Sunshine Herrera requested a study session or public presentation to review the total costs to the city and the amount of outside revenue generated by the celebration.
