Catherine Corless attends Dublin premiere of Tuam babies film
The film ‘The Lost Children of Tuam’ premiered at Dublin’s Lighthouse Cinema, featuring historian Catherine Corless and co-producer Liam Neeson. Corless, whose research uncovered the names of 796 children buried in unmarked graves at the Tuam mother and baby home, described the event as “surreal” and “overwhelming.”
Directed by Frank Berry, the film focuses on the history of the institution and the children who died there during a period when unmarried mothers and their children were often separated from society. Neeson expressed his horror at the institutional failures, noting his personal connection to the story as an Irishman. The film’s production team worked with survivors to ensure authenticity, aiming to bring renewed attention to the estimated 9,000 infants still missing from Ireland’s mother and baby homes.
