Catholic archbishops hold diaconate ordinations in Sarajevo and Đakovo

In separate religious ceremonies, Catholic archbishops in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia presided over diaconate ordinations while delivering messages regarding the role of faith in society.

In Sarajevo, Archbishop Tomo Vukšić ordained seven deacons at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. The group included four African candidates. During the ceremony, Archbishop Vukšić encouraged the new deacons to focus on their spiritual growth and future priestly vocations, praying for the support of their families and mentors.

In Đakovo, Archbishop Đuro Hranić ordained five candidates for the diaconate. During his homily, Hranić addressed the intersection of faith and nationalism, urging followers to stop mixing politics with religion. He stated that religious identity should be distinct from national identity, noting that 'Jesus separates God and Croats' by decoupling Catholicism from Croatian nationalism. He emphasized that citizens should remain loyal to state authorities without compromising their spiritual values.
