Catholic Association of Schools of Macau honors 41 veteran teachers
The Catholic Association of Schools of Macau held its 2026 Teacher Development Day at the Macau Polytechnic University gymnasium. The event, themed ‘Unity and Love,’ featured a seminar on the mental and spiritual health of educators to help them manage the pressures of teaching.
During the ceremony, 41 teachers were honored for their long-term service. The recipients included 14 teachers with 25 years of service, 11 with 30 years, 10 with 35 years, 5 with 40 years, and one individual recognized for 45 years of dedication to education.
Wong Ka-kei, representing the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and acting Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau, noted that the Macau government has completed the mid-term evaluation of the Non-Tertiary Education Medium-to-Long-Term Plan (2021-2030). He stated that future educational development will align with national requirements for the integration of education, technology, and talent.
Bishop Li Bin-sang addressed the impact of artificial intelligence on schooling, noting that while AI can transform teaching models, it cannot replace the human connection, empathy, and emotional support provided by teachers.
