Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam sets 2027 pastoral theme

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam has outlined its pastoral orientation for the 2026–2028 period regarding the proclamation of the Gospel. Following the 2026 theme, ‘Each Christian is a missionary disciple,’ the focus for 2027 will shift to ‘Each Catholic family is a missionary community.’

This transition aims to move the mission from the individual level into the closest human relationships, establishing the family as a central subject of the Church's life and mission. The framework emphasizes recognizing the family as a ‘domestic church’ rooted in the sacrament of marriage and the shared life of faith.

The proposed process includes several key stages: recognizing identity, building communion through love and dialogue, rooting the family in Christ through prayer and faith transmission, and venturing out to witness to the faith within parishes and society. The initiative also calls for support from priests, religious orders, and community networks to accompany families in their growth and mission.
