Catholic Church calls for end to corruption and hatred in Honduras
The Catholic Church in Honduras has issued a strong call for social and political leaders to reject actions that promote division, corruption, and hatred. During a Sunday homily in Tegucigalpa, priest Carlos Magno Núñez urged society to rectify its course and work toward peace, justice, and national well-being.
Using the parable of the vineyard as a reflection on responsibility, Núñez noted that while individuals are given the tools to produce “good fruits,” many choose paths of selfishness and lies. He warned that instead of contributing to progress, many are “sowing corruption, lies, hatred, and terror,” which destroys the common good.
The message addressed a national context of intense social and political confrontation. The Church called on both citizens and leaders to prioritize dialogue, forgiveness, and truth over private interests, emphasizing that individual actions have collective consequences for the construction of the country.
