Catholic Church in Brazil observes Vocation Month
August is traditionally dedicated to reflecting on vocations within the Catholic Church. For 2026, the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) has proposed the theme ‘Vocational communities: Encounter, testimony and mission’ to encourage reflection on various Christian callings.
The National Association of Catholic Education of Brazil (ANEC) highlights the role of Catholic educational institutions in this mission. Leaders within ANEC, including Father Charles Lamartine and Father Sérgio Mariucci, emphasize that schools and universities serve as vital spaces for integral formation where faith and academic excellence coexist.
In Rio de Janeiro, the Archdiocese is concluding the Vocation Month with the 2nd Vocational Encounter of 2026 at the São José Archdiocesan Seminary. Scheduled for August 30, the event aims to provide young men, aged 16 and older, with an environment for prayer and discernment regarding God's calling, regardless of whether they have already decided to enter the priesthood.
