Catholic Church leaders in Chile coordinate pastoral and synodal efforts

Religious leaders and pastoral vicars in Chile recently held meetings to coordinate evangelization efforts and discuss the ongoing synodal process within the Church.

At the annual Vicars' Meeting held in Lo Cañas, representatives from various dioceses, bishops from the Pastoral Commission, and officials from the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Chile (CECh) gathered to evaluate current processes. Key discussions included social and ecclesial dialogue regarding the document ‘Magnifica Humanitas’ and the roadmap for diocesan synodal assemblies. These assemblies, planned to continue through 2027, aim to evaluate and relaunch the Church’s synodal conversion. The meeting also focused on catechesis and new Christian initiation frameworks.

In the Coquimbo region, the local Vicariate held its monthly meeting at the ‘Cristo Resucitado’ parish. Clergy and community representatives focused on the pillars of mission, communion, and participation. The gathering included prayers for families affected by recent heavy rains in the Coquimbo region and served as a space to address the specific pastoral challenges facing local communities.
