Catholic Church marks 100th anniversary of World Mission Sunday
The Catholic Church is observing the 100th anniversary of World Mission Sunday, a global solidarity initiative aimed at supporting social and pastoral work in the poorest dioceses. In a video message, Pope Leo XIV called for church unity and emphasized the responsibility of all baptized individuals to contribute to evangelization through their unique gifts.
In Austria, the focus of the upcoming observance on October 18 will be on Ethiopia and the Tigray crisis region. In Germany, the celebration on October 25 will highlight Madagascar. To raise awareness of the poverty, drought, and healthcare challenges in Madagascar, Sister Béatrice Rasonhamtaryirima from the Tolanaro Diocese is visiting the Diocese of Fulda to share insights into the lives of those facing extreme economic and ecological hardships.
