Catholic Church prepares for World Mission Sunday 2026

The Catholic Church is preparing for World Mission Sunday (DOMUND) 2026, which will be observed globally on October 18. Under the theme ‘One in Christ, united in mission’ established by Pope Leo XIV, the event focuses on solidarity with mission territories and supporting religious workers in vulnerable areas.

In Venezuela, the Archdiocese of Valencia has scheduled its local celebration for Saturday, October 24, at the Nuestra Señora de los Dolores parish. The program includes missionary animation, training, and a solemn Eucharist. Local leaders emphasized that the day serves as both a spiritual encounter and a means to support evangelization projects worldwide.

In Italy, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi discussed the concept of ‘missionary conversion of pastoral care.’ He noted that the Church must move away from self-referentiality to adopt a style of listening and dialogue, embracing the challenges of a changing era to better announce the Gospel.
