Catholic Church updates in Braga and Porto dioceses

In the Archdiocese of Braga, three newly ordained priests—Carlos Furtado, Diogo Antunes, and Bruno Pinto—have begun their pastoral ministries across 20 communities. Carlos Furtado will serve as parish administrator for three communities in Fafe. Diogo Antunes has been appointed parochial vicar for nine communities in the Arciprestado of Cabeceiras de Bastos, starting September 19. Bruno Pinto will serve as parochial vicar for eight communities in the Arciprestado of Amares and Terras de Bouro, beginning his duties on September 27.

Meanwhile, the Diocese of Porto held a farewell celebration for Vitorino Soares, who is transitioning to serve as the new bishop of the Algarve. During a liturgy at the Porto Cathedral, Bishop D. Manuel Linda expressed gratitude for Soares' service, noting his previous role as rector of the Major Seminary. The canonical installation of the new bishop in Faro is scheduled for September 19.
