Catholic communities celebrate 100 years of World Mission Day

Catholic communities in Brazil and India are holding various observances to mark the 100th anniversary of World Mission Day.

In the Archdiocese of Vitória, Brazil, the Missionary Childhood group led musical animations and a mass at the Cathedral. Archbishop Dom Ângelo A. Mezzari emphasized the message from the Pope, noting that all members of the Church are called to be missionaries. The celebration included collections for the Pontifical Mission Societies and reflections on the challenges of missionary work.

In the Diocese of Miao, located in the Arunachal Pradesh state of Northeast India, celebrations focused on prayer, formation, and community participation. Bishop George Pallipparambil called on parishes to renew their commitment to evangelization, highlighting the importance of reaching indigenous populations in the region. The initiatives aimed to reinforce the responsibility of all baptized individuals to support the global mission of the Church through both spiritual and material means.
