Catholic communities in Italy observe World Day of Migrants and Refugees

Various Italian communities are organizing events to observe the 112th World Day of Migrants and Refugees. The theme for this year, established by Pope Leo XIV, is ‘Even one of these children’, which focuses on the vulnerability of minors within global migration flows.

In Lamezia Terme, Pax Christi Lamezia is hosting a prayer vigil on October 13, 2026, to reflect on the complexities of migration and the need for ecclesial communities to address the causes of poverty and displacement.

In the Diocese of Chiavari, celebrations include traditional music, cultural stands, and a performance titled ‘Custodians of Life’ to commemorate the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis of Assisi while highlighting the papal theme.
