Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong suspends priest

The Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong in Ghana has indefinitely suspended Rev. Fr. Samuel Adapore following allegations of pastoral abandonment and unauthorized leave. The decision was issued by Bishop Most Reverend John Opoku-Agyemang in consultation with the College of Consultors.

Fr. Adapore, who served as the Rector of St. Anthony of Padua Rectorate at Nkwantakese, reportedly cleared his personal belongings from the mission house and left his post without notifying church authorities. This action is cited as a violation of Canon 533 (1) of the Roman Catholic Code of Canon Law, which requires parish priests to maintain continuous residency within their assigned communities.

Under the penalty of ‘suspension a divinis’, Fr. Adapore is prohibited from celebrating Mass, officiating sacraments, or participating in public liturgical services. Church officials stated that the priest has severed all communication, and his current whereabouts remain unknown, even to his immediate family members. The Diocese has requested that the faithful keep the suspended priest in their prayers as administrative protocols continue.
