Catholic dioceses in France commission new lay missionaries

In the Diocese of Nantes, eleven new laypeople have been commissioned for various roles within the Church in Loire-Atlantique. During a celebration presided over by Bishop Laurent Percerou, these individuals received letters of mission to serve in areas including youth pastoral work, student chaplaincy, catechesis, pilgrimages, integral ecology, and funeral services.

Separately, the Diocese of Montpellier is preparing for World Mission Sunday, which marks the 100th anniversary of the event. Supported by the Pontifical Mission Societies, the observance aims to foster missionary consciousness and promote a global network of prayer and charity. The diocese highlights its connections to various regions, including six dioceses in Mali, emphasizing a shared mission through cooperation and support for priests, deacons, and lay faithful.
