Catholic leaders in Oaxaca call for faith and hope amid social chaos

During religious celebrations in the Archdiocese of Antequera-Oaxaca, Catholic leaders addressed themes of faith and social order. Archbishop Pedro Vázquez Villalobos delivered a homily emphasizing the personal nature of faith, noting that Christ founded the Church and calling on the faithful to reaffirm their belief in him as the Messiah.

In a separate address marking his second episcopal anniversary at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Solitude, Auxiliary Bishop Luis Alfonso Tut Tún called on priests to provide hope amidst global and local chaos. He criticized the use of disorder, power, and money as methods of control by certain leaders and noted that insecurity and unfulfilled projects contribute to darkness in the Oaxaca region. Tut Tún stated that the clergy's role is to serve as ministers of the Lord to illuminate these areas through the word of God.
