Catholic literary works and commemorations launched in Portugal
Several religious and cultural publications and commemorations are being highlighted in Portugal. The launch of the book ‘Faça-se Luz’ marks the beginning of celebrations for the centenary of the birth of Manuel Martins, the first bishop of Setúbal. Described as a man of consensus who fought against poverty and social injustice, Martins’ legacy will be further explored through conferences, debates, and an itinerant exhibition scheduled for 2027.
In Braga, Archbishop José Cordeiro presented ‘Ao ritmo dos Salmos, hoje’, a book by Father António Sílvio Couto. The work offers reflections on responsorial psalms across the liturgical year, drawing on the teachings of Saint John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI to provide a guide for prayer and liturgy.
Additionally, Father José Miguel Cardoso, a priest working at the Vatican, presented ‘O segredo das cores. Espiritualidade cromática’ in Braga. The interdisciplinary book explores the historical, psychological, and spiritual significance of colors, aiming to reposition Catholic thought within contemporary society.
