Catholic organizations observe weeks of prayer for vocations
Catholic institutions in the United States and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) are holding dedicated periods to promote and support vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.
In the United States, National Vocation Awareness Week runs from November 1 to November 7. Archbishop Ronald A. Hicks, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations, described the week as a witness to those responding to religious calls. The USCCB has provided resources in English and Spanish, including discernment tips, prayer tools, and guidance for parents to discuss vocations with children.
The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church has scheduled its Week of Prayer for Vocations from November 21 to November 27, 2026. Following a decision by the Synod of Bishops, the UGCC has released a collection of resources via its official website. These materials include guides for priests to organize parish activities and a guide for the domestic church to facilitate daily family prayer, scripture readings, and spiritual reflections.
