Catholic school fees in Canberra to rise through 2027
Catholic Archdiocese Canberra and Goulburn Education Limited (CAGEL) has announced fee increases for 2027, with some schools facing rises of up to 7.5 per cent. The decision follows a previous hike of up to 10 per cent this year.
CAGEL executive director David de Carvalho attributed the pressure to real decreases in per-student base government funding. The rising costs are also driven by teacher salaries, computer technology, books, stationery, and insurance for travel and excursions.
In the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), primary school fees are expected to climb by up to six per cent. Additionally, the annual building levy will increase by $375 to reach $1,000 in 2027. Specific Year 12 fees for 2027 include $16,455 at Merici College and $11,960 at St Mary McKillop College.
