Cathy Whitehead, former public health nurse, passes away at 73

Cathy Whitehead, a former public health nurse from Nanoose Bay, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, at the age of 73.

Whitehead’s career included nursing roles in Vancouver and New Zealand, as well as teaching nursing in Doha, Qatar. In the Cowichan Valley, she worked as a public health nurse, where her energy contributed to award-winning public health campaigns.

She is survived by her partner Bob Howson, her children Shane and Ciara, four grandchildren, and her siblings Jake and Janet.
