CATL achieves Scope 1 and 2 carbon neutrality goals
CATL, the Chinese battery giant, has announced that it achieved its carbon neutrality goals for Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2025. The company has also obtained zero-carbon certification for its 20 core production facilities worldwide.
To manage these targets, CATL utilizes its proprietary Carbon Chain Management System (CCMS), which monitors emission data for over 1,000 product and raw material models across its supply chain. The company aims to achieve full climate neutrality across its entire value chain by 2035.
Beyond manufacturing, CATL is expanding its infrastructure and service models. This includes a partnership with VNET Group to develop gigawatt-scale data centers that function as energy storage systems. Additionally, CATL has signed a five-year cooperation agreement with Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor to develop a ‘Battery Bank’ leasing model and battery-swapping infrastructure for commercial electric vehicles.
