CATL unveils TECTRANS II battery platform at IAA Transportation 2026
At the IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition in Hannover, Germany, the commercial vehicle industry is demonstrating a significant shift toward electrification. Manufacturers are increasingly showcasing electric trucks as production-ready vehicles rather than experimental prototypes.
CATL has introduced its TECTRANS II battery platform, a modular system designed for various vehicle classes and drive concepts. The platform supports both e-axles and central drives, and is compatible with both conventional charging and battery swapping. CATL reports that the largest configuration can achieve a range of up to 1,000 kilometers, with megawatt charging capable of reaching an 80 percent charge within 25 minutes. The system is designed for a service life of 1.5 million kilometers or twelve years for heavy trucks.
Other manufacturers, such as Volvo Trucks, are also presenting electric models, including the FH, FH Aero, FM, and FMX heavy trucks, which have received industry recognition for their efficiency and range.
