Catriel and UNCO plan new university degree programs

The city of Catriel and the Universidad Nacional del Comahue (UNCO) are working to expand the local academic offering to establish the area as a regional center for higher education. The proposed new programs focus on sectors such as mining and land surveying.

Planned programs include a University Technician degree in Topography, which would lead to a degree in Surveying Engineering. Additionally, a Bachelor's degree in Mining Technology is being developed, which includes an intermediate qualification as a Technician in Extractive Activities specializing in petroleum, laboratory work, and mining projects. Authorities aim to begin pre-registrations soon, with classes projected to start in 2027.
