Cattle truck crash in Kansas City kills dozens of cows

A semi-truck hauling between 120 and 130 cattle overturned and fell from an Interstate 70 overpass onto a vehicle in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, early Sunday morning. The accident, which occurred near 3 a.m., resulted in the deaths of approximately 45 to 60 cattle.

Following the crash, dozens of surviving animals escaped, wandering several miles through the urban area and onto city streets. Authorities utilized drones, thermal imaging, and workers on horseback to track and round up the livestock. While some reports indicated potential critical injuries for those in the involved vehicles, others noted that drivers sustained minor injuries.

The incident caused significant traffic disruptions and required a coordinated response from police and fire departments to manage the escaped animals and a diesel spill. Authorities stated that most cattle were eventually accounted for by Sunday afternoon.
