Cau Nhi Coordinates documentary explores 1972 Quang Tri battle

A new documentary titled ‘Cau Nhi Coordinates’, produced by Vietnam Television, recreates the intense battle at the Cau Nhi area in Quang Tri Province that occurred on May 26, 1972. During this historical engagement, soldiers from the 88th Regiment of the 308th Division fought to defend a strategic location near the Cau Nhi bridge against enemy counter-attacks.

The film highlights the ongoing efforts to locate, collect, and identify the remains of soldiers who fell during the battle. It specifically features the story of Bui Huu Tuan’s family, who have refused to sell a valuable plot of land near National Highway 1A for over half a century. Following ancestral instructions, the family has preserved the garden as a sacred site to protect the resting place of the fallen soldiers.

Despite decades of exposure to floods and soil erosion, local military recovery teams continue the difficult task of retrieving remains from the riverbank area to provide proper identification and honors for the deceased.
