Caucete health officials launch preventive operation for suspected measles
Health authorities in Caucete, Argentina, have launched a preventive sanitary operation following a suspected case of measles in the Pie de Palo neighborhood. The suspicion arose after a six-month-old infant was treated at the César Aguilar Hospital, where a pediatrician activated the established protocol due to specific symptoms.
An epidemiological blockade was implemented, involving a team of more than 15 medical professionals, including doctors and nurses. The team worked within a five-block radius of the suspected case to verify vaccination records and administer necessary doses.
Health officials emphasized that the diagnosis is not yet confirmed, as laboratory results are not expected until Tuesday. The infant is currently at home and reportedly showing good progress. Authorities stated that the preventive measures were taken immediately according to protocol, which dictates action upon suspicion rather than waiting for laboratory confirmation, while aiming to prevent public alarm.
