Caulfield Cup 150th running headlines Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival

The Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival approaches its major milestones, highlighted by the 150th running of the $6.54 million Group 1 Caulfield Cup. The race features a capacity field including defending champion Half Yours and current betting favourite Cosmic Crusader. International raiders and several prominent local stables are expected to compete in the premier staying event.

In preparation for the Victoria Derby, Ciaron Maher’s stable is fielding top contenders Vallice and Skua, who are set for lead-up runs in the Group 3 Sportsbet Classic. Meanwhile, trainer Lloyd Kennewell is aiming the colt Organised Crime at the Blue Sapphire Stakes as a stepping stone to the Coolmore Stud Stakes.

Other notable entries include the mare She’s A Hustler, who returns to the 2400m distance for the Caulfield Cup under trainer Grahame Begg. Additionally, greyhound Canya Mayhem is set to represent Victoria in the Million Dollar Chase at Wentworth Park, seeking to join an elite group of earners with over $2 million in career prize money.
