Causeway Bay traffic accident involves police motorcycle and Tesla

A traffic accident occurred in Causeway Bay on Friday evening, September 4, involving a police motorcycle and a Tesla private car. The collision took place at the intersection of Hysan Avenue and Hoi Ping Road around 6:00 PM.

Dashcam footage released online shows a Tesla exiting Lee Garden Shopping Centre and turning toward Leighton Road. During the maneuver, a police motorcycle, which was reportedly traveling against the flow of traffic with its lights flashing to perform official duties due to congestion, collided with the Tesla.

The impact caused the police motorcycle to overturn, resulting in the officer falling to the ground and white smoke appearing at the scene. The Tesla driver was uninjured, but the male officer reported waist pain and was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital while conscious. The collision caused minor damage to the Tesla's front bumper and caused its license plate to detach. Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
