Cava Manara fire leads to discovery of marijuana greenhouse

An investigation into a house fire in Cava Manara has uncovered a clandestine marijuana greenhouse located in a basement. The incident began on August 7, 2026, when Carabinieri responded to a fire in a villa on Via Manara. During the emergency intervention, the property owner sustained injuries.

Following the fire, Carabinieri from the San Martino Siccomario station noticed suspicious details in the basement. In coordination with the Public Prosecutor of Pavia, the entire building was seized to allow for further investigation. Subsequent inspections conducted by the Carabinieri and specialists from the Pavia Fire Department's Fire Investigation Nucleus confirmed the presence of a domestic greenhouse used for the cultivation and production of marijuana.

As a result of the findings, two men in their 40s—the property owner and another resident—have been reported to the Procura della Repubblica di Pavia for the cultivation of narcotic substances.
