Cavan Sullivan emerges as rising US soccer star

Cavan Sullivan, a 17-year-old attacking midfielder for the Philadelphia Union, is emerging as a major star in American soccer. Sullivan recently made history by becoming the youngest player ever named MLS Player of the Month, earning the honor for September 2026. During that period, he recorded nine goal contributions in just four appearances, outperforming established stars like Lionel Messi.

Sullivan has demonstrated elite technical skills, including explosive movement and creativity, which have earned him a starting role with the US Men’s National Team (USMNT). His rapid ascent includes a record-breaking contract with the Philadelphia Union and a reported agreement to join Manchester City when he turns 18.

In addition to his individual accolades, Sullivan’s performance has significantly impacted the Philadelphia Union, contributing to a strong run in the Eastern Conference standings. He currently holds the record for the longest goal-contribution streak by a teenager in MLS history, spanning eight consecutive matches.
