Cavan Sullivan named MLS Player of the Matchday after two-goal performance

Cavan Sullivan, a 16-year-old midfielder for the Philadelphia Union, has been named the MLS Player of the Matchday for Week 26 following a standout performance against San Diego FC. Sullivan recorded two goals and one assist in a 5-0 victory, marking the first brace of his career.

With this recognition, Sullivan becomes the third-youngest player in MLS history to win the award, following Freddy Adu and Santino Quaranta. His recent form has been instrumental in the Philadelphia Union's resurgence; the team has won eight of its last ten matches, moving them toward playoff contention.

Sullivan has recorded goal contributions in each of his last seven matches, the longest such streak for a teenager in league history. He currently holds 17 goal contributions for the season, consisting of five goals and seven assists in his last seven games.
