Cavazzo Carnico: 50 scouts hospitalized after suspected food poisoning

Approximately 50 underage scouts in Cavazzo Carnico, Udine, suffered from suspected food poisoning on Saturday, August 15. The group reported symptoms of nausea and vomiting after consuming a meal of pasta with tuna and cheese.

The regional emergency operations center, Sores Fvg, activated a medical emergency, deploying multiple rescue vehicles to the sports field where the scouts were camping. A triage field was established on-site to manage the growing number of affected individuals. To prevent dehydration, some youths received intravenous therapy.

The affected scouts were transferred to hospitals in Udine, Tolmezzo, and San Daniele del Friuli. While the number of symptomatic individuals increased over the course of the afternoon, no patients are reported to be in critical condition. The Carabinieri of the Udine provincial command are conducting investigations alongside adult chaperones to determine the exact cause of the intoxication.
