Caxias do Sul advances cemetery concession and new airport project
The city of Caxias do Sul is progressing with two major infrastructure and management initiatives. The municipal government, through the Secretariat of Planning and Strategic Partnerships, is preparing for the concession of public cemeteries. This process aims to modernize management, improve service quality, and upgrade infrastructure. As part of this preparation, the municipality is hiring a specialized company to conduct environmental licensing studies to ensure all spaces meet regulatory requirements.
Additionally, a project for a new airport to serve the Serra Gaúcha region has moved forward following a service order signed by the Federal Government. The project, funded by the National Civil Aviation Fund (Fnac), involves a total investment of R$ 200.6 million. The new facility is designed to accommodate larger aircraft, such as the Boeing 737 MAX 8 and Airbus A321neo, addressing the limitations of the current airport. The first phase includes the construction of a runway measuring 1,930 by 45 meters, a taxiway, and an aircraft apron with eight positions, with an estimated execution period of 36 months.
