Cayman Islands approves forest protection and highway extension; Ghana criticizes economic policy

In the Cayman Islands, the Cabinet has approved a dual proposal to designate the Ironwood Forest’s Crown land as a Protected Area and to proceed with the Linford Pierson Highway extension between Outpost Road and Olympic Way. The decision aims to preserve a rare ecosystem while addressing long-standing traffic congestion in George Town. Both initiatives will undergo public consultation before final implementation.

In Ghana, former Jaman South Municipal Chief Executive Andrews Bediako has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding its 24-hour economy policy. Bediako questioned the necessity of constructing new markets, particularly when existing facilities are being demolished. He warned that such projects risk becoming ‘white elephants’ if they are built without sufficient economic demand or accessibility.
