CB-CID report finds police intentionally killed Dalit youth

A CB-CID investigation into the custodial death of 26-year-old Akash Delison has concluded that six policemen intentionally assaulted him with an iron rod, leading to his death. The chargesheet states that the officers, who were aware that Delison belonged to the Hindu Devendrakula Velalar (Scheduled Caste) community, took him to a secluded area near Maanambathi village on March 6, 2026.

The assault caused severe fractures to his leg, which resulted in a fatal fat embolism. The investigation revealed that the officers, including Inspector Dhilipan, executed a plan to break his leg and subsequently fabricated a narrative claiming Delison had fallen from a railway bridge while attempting to evade arrest. The iron rod used in the assault was reportedly concealed by the officers to hide the evidence.

Delison’s family and human rights activists are now demanding the immediate arrest of the six accused policemen, as the chargesheet was filed in June but only shared with the family much later following sustained protests and representations to authorities.
