CBA agents search Polish Children's Rights Commissioner's office
Agents from the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) entered the office of the Polish Commissioner for Children's Rights, Monika Horna-Cieślak, in Warsaw. The action was carried out on the orders of the District Prosecutor's Office in Szczecin to secure specific items for an ongoing investigation.
The investigation follows a criminal notification filed in late September regarding potential abuse of power and false accusation by the Commissioner. The case stems from a controversial intervention in August involving a family in the Białołęka district of Warsaw. Following a street incident where the Commissioner witnessed a woman shouting at a child, actions were taken that resulted in the removal of two children from their biological parents.
Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the minister coordinating special services, clarified that the investigation is not strictly related to corruption but is a prosecutorial matter. Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek stated that while the law must apply to everyone, he is approaching the situation with caution regarding any potential charges.
