CBF appoints Sampaio brothers to referee Bahia and Vitória matches

Campeonato Brasileiro BaVi derby Brazilian football officiating Sampaio brothers CBF

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has announced the officiating crews for upcoming matches involving Bahia and Vitória. In a notable coincidence, the head referees for the two clubs' respective fixtures are brothers.

Wilton Pereira Sampaio has been appointed to referee the match between Bahia and Flamengo on Sunday, the 18th. Sávio Pereira Sampaio will lead the officiating for the Vitória versus Corinthians match on Monday, the 19th.

The appointments follow previous periods of scrutiny regarding officiating in matches involving these clubs. Bahia coach Rogério Ceni previously criticized Wilton Pereira Sampaio's performance following a draw against Fortaleza in July 2025.
