CBF evaluates preserving Brasileirão players for November FIFA dates
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is considering a measure to limit the call-up of players from clubs involved in decisive stages of the Campeonato Brasileiro. This follows requests from teams concerned about the impact of the upcoming FIFA international window on their title races or relegation battles.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti is scheduled to announce a 26-player squad on Thursday for friendly matches against Japan on November 14 and Singapore on November 17. The Brazilian delegation is expected to return on November 19, just two days before the 36th round of the domestic league. This tight schedule is a primary driver for the discussions, particularly for high-stakes matches like Palmeiras vs. Flamengo on November 21.
The CBF has already sent a preliminary list to FIFA without restrictions, allowing clubs to see which players are under consideration. A final decision is expected following meetings early next week, with a tendency toward prioritizing players from clubs that agree to their release.
