CBF admits refereeing error in Wallace Yan expulsion

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has admitted to a refereeing error during a Brasileirão match between Botafogo and Red Bull Bragantino. The error involved the red card issued to Bragantino striker Wallace Yan. After reviewing VAR audio and footage, the CBF's Refereeing Commission determined that while Yan used his arm irregularly to free himself from a defender, there was no excessive force to justify an expulsion for violent conduct.

The match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, saw Bragantino take an early lead through an own goal by Lucas Monzón before Yan's dismissal. Playing with a man advantage, Botafogo equalized via Vitinho in the second half.
