CBFC portal data leak exposes scripts and contracts of 500 films
A significant data breach has occurred involving the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India. Documents related to more than 500 films were reportedly accessed via the e-Cinepramaan portal, an online platform used by filmmakers to submit materials for certification.
The leaked information includes sensitive documents such as film scripts, certification records, cut orders, and business contracts. Some files may also contain commercial details like distribution deals and licensing fees. While the actual films themselves were not leaked, the exposure of scripts and business agreements poses risks to filmmakers and distributors.
The documents were reportedly made available for download on the Internet Archive. In response, the CBFC has initiated an investigation and a security audit. The Internet Archive has stated it is working to remove the relevant account and will report the matter to cybercrime authorities. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has also been notified of the breach.
