CBI arrests assistant garrison engineer in Himachal Pradesh over Rs 93,000 bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Assistant Garrison Engineer K. K. Soni of the Military Engineering Services in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, on July 4, 2026. He was caught demanding a bribe of Rs 93,000 for clearing his firm’s bills, receiving a partial payment of Rs 40,000 on July 3 and later demanding the remaining Rs 53,000.

A CBI sting operation intercepted Soni red‑handed while he was collecting the money. Investigators recovered the Rs 40,000 already paid and, during a search of his residence, seized approximately Rs 10 lakh in cash. The accused is to appear before the Special CBI Court in Shimla on July 5 for custody proceedings.
