CBI challenges discharge of Kejriwal and Sisodia in liquor policy case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a challenge in the Delhi High Court against the discharge of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case. The CBI argues that the lower court's decision to discharge the leaders failed to consider material evidence and overlooked key aspects of the investigation.

During recent proceedings, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the CBI, accused the leaders and other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members of using “childish” methods to delay the case. The agency contested a request for a four-week extension to file replies, noting that previous opportunities to respond had already been granted.

The defense, led by senior advocate N Hariharan, argued that the CBI's written submissions were extensive, totaling 103 pages. The High Court has granted the respondents a final four-week window to file their replies and has scheduled hearings for October 5 and October 6, stating that “no further adjournments will be granted.”
