CBI launches probe into anti-drug activist murder in Punjab

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has commenced an investigation into the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota. Following an assurance from Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the victim's family during a meeting in Mansa, a CBI team arrived in Mansa on Tuesday night to begin the inquiry and register a case against the accused.

Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon stated that the agency is expected to conduct a neutral and swift investigation to ensure accountability. Dhillon has also urged the Punjab government to hand over other related cases, such as those of Gulzar Singh and Bikramjit Singh, to the CBI for independent investigation.

In addition to calling for justice, Dhillon criticized the Aam Aadmi Party-led government, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He cited failures in governance, law and order, and efforts to curb drug abuse in the state.
