Cbiz celebrities face career collapses following strict industry crackdowns

Over the past decade, the Chinese entertainment industry (Cbiz) has implemented strict regulations for celebrities, leading to significant career declines or total removals for stars involved in scandals.

Fan Bingbing, heavily impacted by a 2018 tax evasion scandal resulting in massive fines, has shifted her focus toward international markets and business, though her former level of influence has diminished. Zheng Shuang, following scandals involving surrogacy and tax evasion, has reportedly moved to the United States to care for her children and has not returned to China in five years.

Kris Wu (Wu Yifan) represents the most severe legal consequence, facing a 13-year prison sentence for sexual assault and significant tax penalties, leading to his complete removal from the entertainment industry. Additionally, Zhao Wei has faced sudden removal from various platforms, with a recent attempt at a livestream comeback being banned shortly after beginning.
