Cboe delays extended trading hours for single-stock options
Cboe Options Exchange has postponed the launch of its extended-hours trading program for single-stock equity options. The exchange removed its scheduled August 17 start date and has not yet announced a replacement date for the 21-symbol program.
The initiative was designed to allow traders to access pre-market and post-market sessions for highly liquid stocks. The planned morning session would have run from 7:30 AM to 9:25 AM ET, accepting limit orders to provide exposure to megacap tech, semiconductors, and financials. The list of targeted symbols includes major companies such as Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, Amazon, and Alphabet.
This postponement follows previous delays; the exchange had originally targeted a July 13 launch. While the single-stock options rollout is delayed, Cboe is still pursuing a separate proposal to bring near 24-hour stock trading to its EDGX equities exchange, which is targeted for December 2026, pending regulatory approval.
