CBS series CIA returns for season 2 premiere
The CBS series CIA has returned for its second season with the premiere episode 'The Deep'. Following a successful debut that drew 8.4 million multiplatform viewers, the sophomore season will feature an expanded 22-episode order, up from the 12 episodes in the first season.
The premiere episode, written by showrunner Mike Weiss and directed by Ken Girotti, features a crossover with the series FBI, including the appearance of FBI Special Agent Stuart Scola, played by John Boyd. The plot follows the team as they track cartel fixer Eduardo 'Lalo' Cabrella and investigate the death of a DEA agent.
Central to the emotional arc of the premiere is the character Bill Goodman, played by Nick Gehlfuss. Following the death of his father, the episode concludes with a revelation that challenges Bill's understanding of his father's true past.
